The Hourensou principles may familiar to those who have worked in Japanese enterprises for a while. However, for many, especially recent graduates or employees experiencing their first job in a Japanese business environment, this might be the first time they’ve come across these principles. With the goal of helping new employees integrate quickly into the cultural environment and working methods of a Japanese company, the talent development program has chosen the theme “Hourensou Principles – Reporting – Communicating – Exchanging, Discussing for Effectiveness.”

In reality, “reporting – communicating – exchanging, discussing” are familiar phrases not only in work but also in life. However, applying them for the highest efficiency according to their meaning is not something everyone knows.

A familiar topic but led and conveyed in a novel way by Mr. Nam.HH – BPO Manager. DTSers were engaged in practical exercises right at the beginning of the class through a mashup of the “Monopoly” and “Role-playing” games to understand what Hourensou is. The hands-on learning method created an interesting “playground,” placing all learners in the role of employees in a coffee shop serving customers together to generate the highest revenue. After each role-playing session, each learner had the opportunity to sit down to devise business plans, share efficient communication methods, or discuss how to handle challenging situations.

(The students were very excited to participate in the minigame and learn lessons for themselves)

Learning, practicing, and applying the Hourensou principles in daily work mean learning to work more effectively in a team to enhance work performance and better control tasks with fewer risks.

It is hoped that Mr. Nam.HH’s insights will help learners grasp the basic principles of reporting, communicating, and exchanging to improve their work skills, step by step, conquering the path to becoming a professional employee at DTS Vietnam.
